In a major relief to the fans of The Kapil Sharma Show, Navjot Singh Sidhu has quit the comedy programme. The cricketer-turned-commentator, who acted as a judge on the popular comedy show, was a nightmare with his one-liners. However, with him quitting the show now, the Kapil Sharma fans are ecstatic. A fan from Lucknow, Pappu Yadav, was quoted as saying by a reputed media house recently: “Sidhu’s one-liners and ‘sher-o-shayari’ made my ears bleed. I’m happy to see he has quit, or else I would have quit watching the show.” ALSO READ: Twitterati troll Navjot Singh Sidhu for his ‘reasons to leave BJP’.
While people are speculating that Sidhu quit Rajya Sabha because he wanted to switch parties and join Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), our source gave us the actual reason. “The members of the upper house as well as his party were unhappy with him. For a majority of time, he was absent from the parliament for honouring his TV and commentary commitments. This irked his party high command. On the other hand, whenever he did find some time and attended the parliament, the fellow members of the house complained of noise pollution and demanded his resignation on health and safety grounds. This made him quit” said the source. ALSO READ: How Sunny Deol will react to this ‘Border’ tweet from Virender Sehwag!
In Sidhu’s own words, his stay in the parliament was ‘as uncomfortable as a bum on porcupine’. So if he opts to join AAP, there can be no better place for him as his experience from the comedy shows will help him a lot. However, one still wonders why he chose to quit the comedy show, where he was in a great space. Our same source had a startling revelation to make in this regard as well. According to him, in this case too it was not Sidhu who quit on his own. In fact, he was forced to quit the show. The source quoted an important person associated with the show on condition of his anonymity as saying: “Sidhu paaji was getting too predictable with use of same old shayaris and muhavres. We decided to bring in a fresh perspective to the show and hence he was shown the door.”
The source of our source continued: “We were in dire need of fresh ideas. We needed a person who can come up with new, innovative jokes almost on impulse and on a consistent basis. Finally, we have found the apt replacement.” Though the source ended on a puzzling note, without revealing the name of the replacement, he did confirm that the person who is replacing Sidhu is also a former cricketer. Well, we do not have to be a rocket scientist to figure out who that person is. ALSO READ: Virender Sehwag believes “Humans Can Fly”!
Of late, Virender Sehwag has been a revelation on Twitter. His unique and witty birthday wishes and hilarious captions to images have been breaking the internet for some time now. The Nawab of Nazafgarh was a thorough entertainer with the willow and has been no less with the microphone as well. His commentary debut during the ICC World T20 2016 was a smash hit and he has carried that momentum on social media too.
No wonder he will get tremendous acceptance on The Kapil Sharma Show. We tried reaching Sehwag through a tweet to confirm the development, but the former cricketer only retweeted it without replying. Sidhu, meanwhile, has been laughing ever since we asked him to confirm the development. He was last seen laughing his way back home from the parliament. Hence, we are forced to say he was unavailable for a comment.
