He may have got out to lose deliveries or may have delivered those and gone for sixes, but nothing will embarrass him more than this dismissal against Rajasthan Royals at Ahmedabad in the seventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In a comedy of errors, Mishra, who was then playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ensured that he prevailed. He got two reprieves on the same delivery but failed to make it to the crease and eventually ran himself out. SRH were struggling to get the scoreboard ticking and were eight wickets down at the score of 129. It was the last over and was bowled by RR’s James Faulkner, when Mishra failed to connect the ball and called for a single. The ball went straight into the hands of wicketkeeper Sanju Samson, who collected it in a flash and had a shy at the stumps but failed to hit the target. Mishra decided to get back to the crease but Faulkner who was present on the pitch collected the ball and aimed for the stumps but this time he missed it.

Mishra was still out of his crease and was perhaps too lethargic to get back. Samson, who gathered Faulkner’s throw, struck this time. When the leather hit the timber, Mishra was still short of his ground. Mishra tried his best to get run out and succeeded. While he may have been third time unlucky, Sunrisers weren’t as they went on to win the low scoring match by 32 runs
