The post of Team India’s head coach, which has been lying vacant since Duncan Fletcher’s contract expired after the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, is up for the grabs and as many as 57 candidates are vying for it. Though the team had a full-time director in Ravi Shastri till the ICC World T20 2016, the conclusion of his tenure after the event has left the team without a guide or a mentor. A newspaper advertisement by the BCCI to fill up the vacant spot earned tremendous response and quite interestingly, Shastri too threw his hat into the ring. Chief selector Sandeep Patil and selector Vikram Rathour also could not keep themselves away from the lucrative post and joined the bandwagon. With the race spicing up and result date (June 24) approaching, Amul has come up with its customary topical on the issue.

Its latest topical, which is titled ‘#Amul Topical: 57 applicants for the prestigious post’, is a witty take on the long list of candidates for the post. It is captioned ‘Sahi coach, kai soch?’ in Hindi, which suggests there are many contenders for the role who have different approach, thinking about it, but there will only be one who will bag the offer. The topical ends with the tagline: “Amul – Easy to select,” which again is a dig at the selection process, which is long and tedious while suggesting Amul is the most preferred brand and a choice easiest to make.
