A hat-trick from IPL debutant Andrew Tye and some sensible top-order batting helped Gujarat Lions (GL) outclass Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) by 7 wickets in an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 match at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot on Friday. Tye’s hat-trick helped GL restrict RPS to 171, which they chased down comfortably to register their first win in this edition of the tournament. The win also helped GL maintain their unbeaten streak against RPS. GL got off to a flier with the opening duo of Dwayne Smith (47) and Brendon McCullum (49) putting on 94 runs for the 1st wicket. Then skipper Suresh Raina and Aaron Finch ensured there was no hiccups during the chase. The match saw plenty of interesting record coming into notice and we present some of those here:

Samuel Badree was the first one to take hat-trick, for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against Mumbai Indians (MI). Tye was the second bowler to do achieve this. This was the 1st instance to have happened in the history of IPL.
