In March 2009, Sri Lankan cricket team were attacked by 10 armed people with rifles, rockets and grenades, in the team bus in Lahore. The incident injured six Sri Lankan cricketers including the British coach and killed eight Pakistani. This was also termed as one of the darkest days in the history of cricket. The three detained men and an alleged militant were attacked by seven to eight gunmen on Saturday. They were travelling on the edge of Lahore when the incident is reported to have taken place. There was an open fire between the attackers and the policemen and in this course, the four captured were shot dead by the opponents. The Punjab counter-terrorism department in a statement said that they are in a constant hunt for the attackers who ran away from the scene. Just because of the security concerns in the nation, international cricket has taken a solid beating as almost every international team are not willing to tour the cricket fanatic nation. The PCB is also trying their best to host the next year PSL final in Lahore and this incident will certainly affect their plans. It has been seven years since Pakistan played a Test in their home soil.
