Unarguably, Don Bradman is the greatest batsman the game has seen. He finished his career with 29 Test hundreds and since then the number holds a special place in the annals of cricket. England skipper Alastair Cook, a modern great reached his 29th Test century on the Day 1 of the second Test between England and Pakistan at Old Trafford.

Bradman got his 29th hundred in the same country but a different venue. It was Leeds where the master scored his final Test hundred. Both were leading their sides and Cook got to the mark on July 22, 2016, while co-incidentally the Test in which Bradman got to the mark too started on the same day in the year 1948. Also Read: Alastair Cook annoyed with Pakistan’s ‘push-ups’ celebration after Lord’s win

Coming back to the current Test, Cook once again stood in the middle to save his team after opener Alex Hales fell early. Vice-captain Joe Root too supported his skipper well and scored a ton. The duo added 185 runs together before falling to Mohammad Amir. This was also Cook’s 11th hundred as captain for England and he equalled the tally of Graham Gooch, who has as many as England captain.
