Former Australian batsman and coach Geoff Marsh believes that Australia’s preparation prior to the ICC World Cup 2015 will keep them away from repeating the shock exit in the 1992 World Cup, wherein Australia failed to qualify for the semi-finals by just one point after hosting the tournament with New Zealand.

According to the official website of Cricket Australia (CA), the former coach said, “If you put yourself in that position where there is pressure, yes, If you don’t put yourself in those positions where there’s pressure around and you’re playing well, when you look at what this team’s done, there’s planning been in place for a long, long time.”

Marsh says he is impressed with the squad, and and feels that under head coach Darren Lehman the Australians will not have to suffer a similar embarrassment.

The former Australian opener tasted World Cup success as a player in 1987 and again as coach in 1999. He remains the only man in history to win a World Cup as both player and coach. He further added, “They’ve done a lot of homework and when you know that, you head into a tournament feeling very good about yourself and I think this team is. The expectations are really high. But the planning has started a long time ago and they’ve talked about it.”
