Australia are the No. 1 ODI and Test side, and if one format Australia need a major improvement, it is T20Is. They have not really done well in this format and just over a month back they were beaten 3-0 by the touring Indians. Even the first T20I against South Africa did not go their way as a David Miller classic helped the hosts win a close game.
The next match was played at Johannesburg where Australia have played some memorable games in the past, most notably the ICC Cricket World Cup final of 2003 and then the famous 434 game in 2006. Australia won the toss and elected to field on a surface that looked apt for batting. A Faf du Plessis’ classic (79 from 41 balls) guided South Africa to 204 for 7 from their 20 overs.
Australia did not start well and were reduced to 32 for 3 in the sixth over but then on it was a David Warner and Glenn Maxwell show. Warner smashed 77 from 40-balls and Maxwell supported him with 75 from 43-balls as the duo put up 161 for the fourth wicket in just over 13 overs. In the end, it came down to two needed from one ball, when Mitchell Marsh dug one out straight down the ground and a misfield helped them to run two. It was a thrilling encounter followed by thousands around the world and in no time began trending on Twitter.
We bring you some of the tweets from the tense finish at New Wanderers.

Got some criticism for our chasing but we’ve been brilliant chasing of late, today was a good opportunity to see us bat first. #SAvAUS
