It has been eight long years since the Englishman’s demise and the bitter memories still haunts the Pakistan side. The loss against Ireland booted them out of the World Cup and if that wasn’t heart-breaking enough, the untimely death of Woolmer, a day later completely devastated them.

Russell Woolmer, the youngest son of the late Pakistan coach Bob spoke about Pakistan’s clash with Ireland and remembered his dad.

“Yes, I will be watching the game. I love to watch Pakistan play especially when they perform. It is a very talented team. Thoughts running through my mind would of course be my father. We think of him every day and miss him dearly”, Russell was quoted in a report from the Daily Observer.

When Russell got to know that the triumph will be dedicated to his late dad, he spoke highly about veteran cricketer Younis Khan, “Very kind if they do so, but I don’t expect them to do it. Our family is in regular touch with Younis Khan. He (Younis Khan) is a massive inspiration to me and such a positive man – always smiling!” (READ: Pakistan remembers former coach Bob Woolmer ahead of crucial encounter against Ireland)

“I will be supporting Pakistan and always hope they do well as a team. They are such talented guys”, added Russell, who is a graphic designer.

“We would like to wish them all the best. Our advice to them would be to play hard and to the best of their abilities. Don’t think about the past, but focus on the task at hand.”

“I am sure they all remember and miss my father as much as I do. They, as I, will always remember him and what he did for the team. He will be watching over them from above! Simply use it (Woolmer’s remembrance) as motivation to help beat a ever improving Irish side!”, he concluded.
