The second game of the Cricket All-Stars T20 series turned out to be another one-sided affair and Warne’s Warriors sealed it with a 57-run win over Sachin’s Blasters at Houston. The series comprising of 30 best cricketers of yesteryears got underway at New York last Saturday and Warriors managed a six-wicket win there. This one was a complete bat dominated affair, which saw more than 460 runs being scored. Pick of the tweets: Sachin’s Blasters vs Warne’s Warriors, 2nd T20 at Houston
Put into bat, Warne’s Warriors put on 262 on the board and it was Kumar Sangakkara’s blistering 70 from 30-balls that helped them reach there. It was a collective batting effort that helped Warriors reach to the mammoth total. Earlier, openers Matthew Hayden and Michael Vaughan put up a 51-run stand from just 34-balls. Turning point: The partnership between Sangakkara and Jacques Kallis inflicted some serious damage to the Blasters. They added 91 from 43-balls for the third wicket. A 23-ball 69 run stand between Sangakkara and Ricky Ponting followed this.
Blasters eventually managed 205 runs but they never stood a chance. Blasters were struggling at 130 for 6 in the 16th over when a Shaun Pollock special of 55 from 22-balls, helped them salvage some pride. He was involved in a 22-ball 62-run seventh wicket stand with Graeme Swann, who ended up with 22 not out from 8 balls.
Having lost both the matches of the series, Sachin Tendulkar’s Blasters will now look forward to the third match at Los Angeles on Saturdayand try to win that one.
