Indian team’s relation with Cricket Australia is getting bitter with every passing day and it turned worse when pacer Ishant Sharma left The Gabba at lunch on Friday, after finding there was no vegetarian preparation in the menu.
As reported by Rediff.com, Indian team have been quite unhappy with the food provided to them ever since they landed in Australia last month. They weren’t at all satisfied with the food provided to them at Glenelg Oval in Adelaide for the two practice games but they didn’t make their grievance public as they felt it wasn’t appropriate to do so at that time, as the nation was in mourning after Phil Hughes’ death.
However things turned much better during the first Test in Adelaide where the state cricket association had arranged for an Indian chef to prepare food for the Indian team during the match.
Things turned worse in Brisbane and on day three, there was no proper vegetarian fare that was provided at lunch.
Ishant Sharma and Suresh Raina complained about the same, and they then proceeded outside the stadium premises to procure vegetarian food for themselves. Team director Ravi Shastri and International Cricket Council’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit personnel, also accompanied the cricketers.

On their return, they were told that food and beverages can’t be brought inside the stadium and therefore both the players had to consume their food sitting outside before returning to the dressing room. Ishant is a key member of the playing XI and despite of this incident, where one of the cricketers had left the venue in the middle of the match, ICC’s ACSU unit refused to make any comment on it.
