His two-wicket haul and magnificent 95 not out was the talking point of the last game. Even the likes of Jos Buttler are redefining the way, England have historically approached the shorter format.

A tie in the first game means the series stays level and both the sides will look forward to gain the lead in the second game.  Mathews’ fitness is a huge concern for the visitors as he is one of the few stars in the Lankan line-up, who can change a game on its head.
