A bat belonging to Phil Hughes will be placed at the peak of Mount Everest as the cricket world continues to remember the Australian batsman, who passed away last month.
In an initiative proposed by the Cricket Association of Nepal, a bat belonging to the left hander will be placed atop Mount Everest during the next climbing season in March and April.
Also, a 63-over game will also be played in Nepal with an Australian cricketer leading one of the two sides against a team that will be led by the Nepal national captain.
As reported by the Cricket Australia (CA) website, the CA chairman Wally Edwards said, “So, although we enter the festive season with heavy hearts, the community’s response has been comforting and in many ways uplifting.”

Hughes was 63 not out when he was hit in the head by a short ball bowled by Sean Abbott during a Sheffield Shield match between South Australia and New South Wales. He subsequently died of his injuries. Earlier CA had trademarked the phrase “63 not out”.
