Indian Super League (ISL) saw new champions on Sunday when Chennaiyin FC beat FC Goa 3-2 in the tournament final at Goa. A sea of crowd supporting the home side returned home with broken hearts as in a matter of moments the final was decided. Sachin Tendulkar, who co-owns Kerala Blasters, the side that ended up runners-up in 2014, congratulated the MS Dhoni co-owned Chennaiyin FC on their maiden ISL title.

The last part of Tendulkar’s tweet refers to the ISL final of the inaugural season in 2014 when his side lost to the Sourav Ganguly co-owned Atletico de Kolkata after Mohammed Rafique scored the winning goal in the injury time. Co-incidentally on Sunday, until 87th minute, the scores were drawn level at 1-1 but Joffre helped the Virat Kohli co-owned Goa side take the lead in the end moments of the game. In turn of events, Chennai equalised in the 90th minute as Goa suffered an own goal and in the injury time Chennai’s Mendoza scored the winning goal. Once again the final of the ISL was decided in the injury time.
