Mumbai's cricket fraternity has a reputation of being a happy club and a close knit one where players have stood by each other. However, it seems some cracks have developed there in recent times. Former cricketers Sanjay Manjrekar and Ravi Shastri have not only shared the Mumbai and Indian team dressing rooms together but also have been together on several commentary assignments. It seems all in not fine between the two Mumbai greats, at least Manjrekar's recent tweet suggests so. Having worked with the national team for almost two years as the Team Director, Shastri was expecting the call to come his way but it was eventually Anil Kumble, who clinched it. Though Shastri had good words for Kumble, he did not hide his disappointment and in fact, went on to lash out at Sourav Ganguly, one of the members of Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), who was trusted with the job of coach selection. Ganguly after seeking permission from BCCI skipped Shastri's interview and the latter termed it as "disrespectful". Also Read: Anil Kumble was picked over Tom Moody, not Ravi Shastri While former skipper Ganguly has not reacted to the comments, Manjrekar has provided the story a new twist with his tweet which implies that Shastri is not used to "rejections" and Kumble is a "better choice". During the ODI series against South Africa last year, the Shastri-Sudhir Naik controversy over Wankhede track had irked Manjrekar, who had then tweeted, "Ravi Shastri completely out of line to abuse Sudhir Naik, curator at Wankhede. Showed disrespect to age & fellow test cricketer." This episode now seems to be getting intense by the day.
