When it comes to sledging in cricket, no one can beat the Australians. For a long time, the cricketers from Down Under have ruled the roost with their shrewd and cunning tactics, when it comes to get under the skin of opposition players. Players like Mark Waugh, Shane Warne, Adam Gilchrist, Rod Marsh, Glenn McGrath, Steve Waugh and Ian Healy et al were good at the art of sledging. The burly fast bowler was known for his aggressive ways and abusive nature. He was a compulsive sledger and among the ones who never let the opponent settle down. There are plenty of sledging incidents including Hughes chronicled in the annals of the game. In this presentation, we bring to you one of those moments, where he did something completely unexpected. This particular incident is from one of the five Tests from the Australia – West Indies Test series being played in the Caribbean in the year 1991. In the video, Hughes and his fellow pacer Craig McDermott can be seen having a go at West Indian opener Gordon Greenidge while his partner Richie Richardson looks on from the other end. When Hughes comes agonisingly close to dismissing Greenidge but misses out, he vents out his frustration by sledging the batsman in a unique way.
