The 10 franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) made every effort to assemble their teams from the auction with the best players available, since the 17th edition of the league will be taking place in a few months. Stars such as Mitchell Starc, Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra, and several more went big to their respective teams.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have the strongest squad

Sunrisers Hyderabad was one squad during the auction that turned a lot of heads. The team brought in a lot of big names, including Australian captain Pat Cummins, who was brought in for INR 20.5 crore.

Speaking on their auction purchases, veteran cricketer AB de Villiers of South Africa spoke up regarding Hyderabad's prospects for the IPL season of 2024. De Villiers believed that SRH might win the season with players like Travis Head, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Pat Cummins.

“One of the biggest steals of the IPL, Wanindu Hasaranga, the Sri Lankan leg-spinner, only INR 1.5 crore, I mean, do me a favour. That guy wins games, every second game he plays, he does something special. This team was one of my favourite squads last season. They have only added to the squad with Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Unadkat, Hasaranga and a few others,” AB de Villiers said on his YouTube channel.

“That’s a team that can win the IPL. I am not going to tell you that they will win the IPL. But, Sunrisers Hyderabad for IPL 2024, watch out,” he added.

AB de Villiers wants Aiden Markram to continue with the captaincy for SRH

Additionally, AB de Villiers stated that although  Hyderabad had a number of elite players in the team, he would still choose South Africa's Aiden Markram to lead the group in the next season.

“I will still go with Aiden Markram as captain. I've played with this guy before. He's got a very good leadership brain on his head. I think he'll do better this season, and has got a very good squad to work with,” De Villiers said.
