When West Indies will take on Afghanistan in the second Twenty20 International (T20I) at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts, the hosts will be hoping to emulate their performance from the first clash. The hosts have a golden opportunity to seal the three-game series well before he ultimate game. West Indies were near-perfect in the series opener, displaying spirited performance. Sunil Narine picked up 3 wickets, bowling out the visitors for a paltry 110, which the hosts chased in 16.3 overs keeping 6 wickets intact. But West Indies cannot afford to be complacent in the second game. They do have a good opportunity to seal the series, but they will have to be on their toes to see themselves through. Even though their bowling was disciplined, West Indies’ batting was not up to the mark. Their batsmen suffered against the Afghanistan spinners and there were instances wherein the batsmen were not able to read the bowlers.
Afghanistan will have a stern test in the second game. Having lost the series-opener by a comprehensive margin and playing the penultimate game immediately the next day, the visitors’ job is not going to be easy. They will have to take the limited positives from the first game and rectify the mistakes in a very small period of time and try to level the series. Sunil Narine inspire WI beat AFG by 6 wickets
The onus will definitely be on the batsmen given their poor show. Afghanistan bowlers tried the best to corner West Indies batsmen but not having enough runs on the board foiled the ploy for the visitors.
Given the momentum, West Indies are on the verge of sealing the victory. But given their poor past record, Afghanistan will be hoping to pull a leaf out of thin air and turn the tides in their favour.
