Veteran Australian cricketer Cameron White has found a new Big Bash League team in Adelaide Strikers after penning a one-year deal.

Veteran Australian cricketer Cameron White has found a new Big Bash League team in Adelaide Strikers after penning a one-year deal.

White, who was part of the title winning squad of Melbourne Renegades recently, was let go. Apart from that, his cricket future looked uncertain after Victoria, his domestic team, didn’t renew his contract for the upcoming season either.

Apart from winning the BBL title, he also won the Sheffield Shield (Australia’s first-class competition) and JLT Cup (one-day competition) with Victoria.

White is the fifth highest run-getter in BBL history and packs an experience of 234 T20s which include 47 in Australian colours. Following the Renegades snub, he was been linked with Perth Scorchers but Strikers moved ahead to secure his services after South African Colin Ingram left them citing family reasons.

White put on a positive spin to his unceremonious Victoria exit saying that might help him grow further, particularly his coaching ambitions.

“It might be good thing for me to get out of Victoria and learn from some new people,” White said on RSN’s Breakfast Club. “If I want to coach, that’s the sort of thing I’m going to have to do. One of the benefits of playing for a long time in Australia and the IPL and in county cricket, I’ve seen a lot of coaches and soaked up a lot of info and played with a lot of good players, talked to them, taken little bits of info from hundreds of them.

He added, “On the flip side, I’ve played in teams where the coaches are hopeless too. Playing in all those different countries and just been able to watch and see how people have gone about it and with my own things I’ve learnt, I’ve bundled that all up into an idea of how the game is played and how it all works. Hopefully that holds me in a good place to be a half-decent coach at some point. “
