Back injury has ruled AB de Villiers out of the Pakistan leg of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2019. The UAE leg of the PSL is scheduled to get over on March 5 while the final four group games, the qualifiers and the final of the PSL 2019 will be played in Karachi from March 9.

AB de Villiers, who plays for Lahore Qalandars, said he was disappointed having missed out on a chance to play before the “passionate Pakistani cricket fans”.

The former South African skipper issued a media statement to inform that he won’t travel to Pakistan due to the injury.

“I am very disappointed that I will not be able to play in front of the passionate Pakistani cricket fans,” said de Villiers said in a statement.

“I saw my doctor who has advised complete rest for two weeks and, unfortunately, that rules me out of the games in Karachi. I hope to be a part of the HBL PSL next year and very much hope to play my part in the return of international cricket to the country. I am backing Lahore Qalandars to go all the way and win the trophy this year,” he added.

Lahore Qalandars’ manager Sameen Rana, in a media release, termed de Villiers’ unavailability a “disappointing news”.
