With BBL and WBBL 2017-18 just gone underway, the penalties have already started making its way. This time 44 players and 4 captains have fallen under the radar of Cricket Australia (CA) for maintaining slow over rates during the opening matches of the tournament. The men and women from Sydney Sixers, Melbourne Stars, Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers are stung by this unwanted penalty.

Each team was deemed one over short in their respective matches, triggering fines for every member of the playing XI – A $ 1,000 per player for the men’s teams, and Australian $ 250 for the women’s, as reported by cricket.com.au. These penalties can be reduced if the players accept their fault without any appeal.

If a second slow over-rate offence is marked against the captains, those players will be suspended from the tournament just like Brisbane Heat skipper Brendon McCullum was slapped with one during the previous edition of BBL.
