Sydney Thunders dependable spinner Arjun Nair has been suspended for three months after he was reported for suspect bowling action. Umpires from Thunder’s match against Hobart Hurricanes reported his action following which Nair took a test at Bupa National Cricket Centre on January 4. However, it was observed that his action during the test was different from that during the match. Hence, as per Cricket Australia rules, Nair was handed a 90-day suspension. Nair received support from his BBL club and has been assured a long future at Thunders after he makes a comeback.
Lee Germon, General Manager, Sydney Thunders, told cricket.com.au, “Arjun is a talented and popular member of our club. We believe he will have a long and successful career with Sydney Thunder and shall support him through this process,” Germon said on the matter.

Nair, who was inspired by Sunil Narine’s carrom ball and picked that up watching video footage, impressed Shane Watson, his BBL skipper. “He’s someone who has that X-factor, with the ball … and with the bat as well. He’s incredibly skilful, and the way he absorbs pressure for a young man, we’re very fortunate to have him in our team,” Watson had earlier said about Nair.
