Former Australia limited-overs captain George Bailey on Thursday suffered a shoulder injury that could sideline him for some time, while sliding near the boundary during the 2019 Big Bash League (BBL) semi-final in Hobart.
The mishap occurred during the 15th over of Melbourne Stars‘ successful chase of 154 to knock out BBL table-toppers Hobart Hurricanes. Bailey ran across from deep cover and dived to stop a shot from Glenn Maxwell, and has he landed his right arm jolted when it hit the ground.
Bailey immediately appeared in pain, and fell to the ground after initially trying to get up. He lay in pain as the Hurricanes’ medical team rushed to help him.
Concern for George Bailey is dislocated R shoulder after landing on outstretched arm. Appeared to stay dislocated after incident, had to use jersey to support arm.

Bailey was then helped to his feet and escorted to the dressing room while the crowd at Bellerive Oval cheered him on.
Earlier in the semi-final, Bailey scored 37 off 32 balls and with Ben McDermott put on 75 for the fourth wicket. Two sixes off Adam Zampa from Bailey signalled a shift of gears, but he fell attempting a third six off Worrall. Hurricanes lost three wickets in the last three overs and ended on 153/7, which was not enough to stop Stars.
