One-time West Indies opener Lendl Simmons will replaced New Zealander Colin Munro for defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders‘ first three matches of the 2019 Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Munro will be busy on international duty with the Black Caps, and thus Knight Riders have roped in Simmons for their matches at Queen’s Park Oval against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots on September 4, Jamaica Tallawahs on September 7 and St Lucia Zouks on September 8.

This makes TKR the fifth CPL franchise that Simmons will have played for, after Guyana Amazon Warriors, St Lucia Zoukes, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots and Jamaica Tallawahs.

Simmons has scored 1650 runs in 59 CPL matches, which is the third most for any batsman.

Munro was named Player of the Series for his 567 runs, the most in any CPL season, after helping TKR to the CPL 2018 title.
