Can the record be shattered to a new low in this edition? Highly doubtful considering that the average score on England pitches during the England-Pakistan ODI series was touching 300. But then cricket is an unpredictable sport, you never know!

Canada, score: 36 vs Sri Lanka in February 2003

Canada’s total of 36 all out against Sri Lanka at Paarl in the 2003 World Cup still remains the lowest score made by any team in World Cup history. Prabath Nissanka and Chaminda Vaas were the wreckers-in-chief that day, each of them taking four and three wickets wickets respectively to bundle the minnows out in just 18.4 overs. It took Sri Lanka 4.4 overs to chase down the target to register a nine-wicket victory. Captain Sanath Jayasuriya was the only batsman to fall for 9 on the last ball of the third over.

Canada, score: 45 vs England in June 1979

The Canadians make an appearance at the second spot as well, having scored just 45 against England at Old Trafford in Manchester in the 1979 edition. Opting to bat, Canada folded for the paltry score with Bob Willis and Chris Old pocketing four wickets each to complete the rout. England arrived at the target in 13.5 overs for the loss of two wickets. Skipper Mike Brearley departed for nought, while Derek Randall scored 5. Geoffrey Boycott and Graham Gooch remained unbeaten on 14 and 21 respectively as England won by eight wickets.

Namibia, score: 45 vs Australia in February 2003

Namibia were bowled out for the same total against Australia at Potchefstroom in the 2003 edition of the tournament. Riding on Matthew Hayden (88), Andrew Symonds (59) and Darren Lehmann (50*), Australia finished at a massive 301/6 after opting to bat. Glenn McGrath then single-handedly decimated the Namibian batting line-up as he scalped 7 for 15 in his 7 overs that saw the opposition back in the hut for 45 in 14 overs.

Bangladesh, score: 58 vs West Indies in March 2011

Bangladesh were embarrassed in front of their home fans when they were skittled out for 58 by the West Indies at Dhaka in the 2011 edition. Opting to bat, the Tigers suffered a batting collapse that none of them would want to remember. Left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 18 in 5.5 overs, while Kemar Roach and Darren Sammy snapped three wickets each. West Indies chased down the target in 12.2 overs for the loss of one wicket.

Scotland, score: 68 vs West Indies in May 1999

A clinical West Indies bowling attack led by Courtney Walsh (3/7) bundled out Scotland for 68 in 31.3 overs in the 1999 edition at Leicester. Curtly Ambrose, Hendy Bryan and Reon King snapped two wickets each. Windies raced away to victory in 10.1 overs with Shivnarine Chanderpaul leading the chase with an unbeaten 30. Captain Brian Lara was unbeaten on 25 off 17.
