Mumbai batsmen keep New Zealand bowlers waiting for wickets. The main highlight of the game was Rohit Sharma’s innings which went downhill as the Hitman got out after scoring 18. Ish Sodhi did the honours and end the innings of the player who became talk of the town before the first Test to be played at Kanpur starting September 22. Sodhi lured him to got down the track and wicketkeeper BJ Watling made no mistake taking the bails off and send the batsmen packing. Yesterday, he left the field after first session, the story did not change much on Day Two. Apart from Rohit, no other batsmen seemed to disappoint on Day Two. Opener Kaustubh Pawar stood his ground and scored 73 runs before Tea break.

Suryakumar Yadav started hitting the ball as soon as he came to bat hitting boundaries. Yadav did not look to knock the ball around for singles as he decided to take the bowlers on. He hit Neil Wagner, Sodhi for boundaries putting more pressure on bowlers, frustrating them against a domestic side. The green pitch did not seem to effect Mumbai batsmen as they later resorted to an attacking approach.

Kiwi fielders dropped two catches today. First Mitchell Santner dropped Pawar off his own bowling in the follow through. Then, Sodhi dropped Yadav when he tried to take him on soon after coming out to bat. Earlier Armaan Jaffer scored his half-century as he seemed to time the ball with ease.

Brief Scores:

New Zealand 324 for 7 (Tom Latham 55, Kane Williamson 50; Balwinder Sandhu 2 for 21, Siddhesh Lad 1 for 34) lead Mumbai 223 for 2 (Kaustubh Pawar 73, Armaan Jaffer 69; Ish Sodhi 2 for 57, Trent Boult 1 for 35) by 101 runs.
