Dilip Vengsarkar, former captain of India and vice president of Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), helped smooth over the problem between Wankhede pitch curator Sudhir Naik and Indian Team Director Ravi Shastri. After the fifth One-Day International (ODI) between India and South Africa that India lost by a big margin, Shastri allegedly abused Naik. This caused Naik to write a letter of complaint to the MCA against Shastri. Vengsarkar was appointed to look into the matter, and cleared the air between the curator and the team director, both of whom are former Mumbai domestic players. They shook hands and Naik withdrew the letter of complaint he wrote to MCA. READ: MCA to investigate Ravi Shastri’s alleged heated confrontation with Wankhede pitch curator

Earlier, IANS reported that MCA vice-president Ashish Shelar said, “MCA has received the complaint of Sudhir Naik. Naik has explained his agony and his heart feeling. We have discussed about the same about this in the meeting. Of course we are now not aware of the stance of Shastri. We only have heard it from Naik. “We have to maintain the respect factor of everyone. Looking into the contribution of both Shastri and Naik, one senior member needs to talk to both of them and therefore Vengsarkar has been appointed to talk to both of them and we will try to see that something comes out of this decision. And same will be reported to the MCA before November 5.” READ: Sanjay Manjrekar lashes out at Ravi Shastri for allegedly abusing Sudhir Naik
