New Zealand fast bowler Doug Bracewell cut his right foot on glass while cleaning his home in Napier, thereby ruling him out of the upcoming three match Test series against England. Bracewell later apologised for his actions.
According to reports emerging from the New Zealand media, the unfortunate accident occurred after a party at Bracewell’s house which attracted complaints from his neighbours.
“Doug is very sorry for any inconvenience he has caused his team-mates and members of the public, and he has apologised to his neighbour in Napier,” said team manager Mike Sandle.
Sandle expressed his disappointment on the fast bowler’s unavailability. “We’ve told Doug that he needs to take responsibility for what happens around him and that he needs to do all he can to ensure his preparation for international cricket is not compromised,” Sandle was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Bracewell was supposed to undergo a fitness Test ahead of the match against England but the medical experts working with the team have given up on any chances of the fast bowler’s recovery. This is not the first instance when Bracewell has come under public scrutiny. Last year, he was briefly suspended from the team after he was involved in a row with the public under the influence of alcohol after they lost the series to South Africa.
