England will be facing Sri Lanka at home in the summer of 2016. The Sri Lankan tour will consist of 3 Test matches, followed by 5 One-Day Internationals (ODI’s) and one-off T20 international. The tour will begin on May 19 with the first Test which will be played at Headingley, Leeds. Star Sports will be broadcasting the series as they hold the broadcast rights in India and the matches will be telecast on Star Sports 1 and Star Sports HD. The second Test will begin on May 27 at Chester-le Street followed by the 3rd and final Test at Lord’s. The teams will then move to the ODI format as the first 50-over match begins on June 21 at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. The second ODI will be played at Edgbaston in Nottingham on June 24. The teams will have just one day to prepare for the 3rd ODI as it is scheduled on June 26 at Bristol. From there they head to London for the 4th ODI at Kennington Oval. The final of the ODI series will be played at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on July 2.

The lone T20 international between England and Sri Lanka will be played on July 5 at the Rose Bowl stadium in Southampton. Angelo Mathews will captain the Sri Lankan side whereas Alastair Cook will be leading England into the squad as they look to take revenge of their defeat in the 2014 home series , which they had lost 0-1 in the final Test.
