Former India cricketers disheartened by India’s meek surrender at Lord’s

Reactions of the Former India cricketers

India‘s meek surrender at Lord’s in the second Test against England drew sharp reactions from the former India greats which include former opener Virender Sehwag, spin king Bishan Singh Bedi, gritty former middle order batsman VVS Laxman, the fighter Mohammad Kaif and the ebullient Vinod Kambli.

Bedi was even more scathing in his assessment of the performance. The former left-arm spinner actually hinted at a bigger malaise in Indian cricket than what is apparent through his tweet which read as:

Dismal Indns at Lord’s..everyone remotely connected w/Indn Crkt knows where the problem lies or stems frm..but will not utter a word fr want of strength of character & courage o conviction..which is even more depressing really than the batting debacle actually..!!

Laxman hoped India will gather itself before the next Test at Trent Bridge, which starts on August 22.

Caught in unfavourable conditions, not reading what the opposition threw saw India lose the Lord’s Test tamely without showing a fight. Hopefully lessons are learnt quickly and the rest of the batsman start applying themselves going forward.

Ebullient Former India and Mumbai southpaw Vinod Kambli agreed with former India captain Sourav Ganguly in his analysis of India’s performance in England and said the team has plenty to think about ahead of the next Test.

India would look forward to erase its past memories of the tour and look to come out fresh in their approach towards the game in the Trent Bridge Test.
