Panaji: A local court would pronounce on Saturday its decision on a bail petition filed by three senior officials of Goa Cricket Association (GCA), who were arrested by the EOW for alleged forgery of documents and usurping over Rs 3 crore. GCA life member Vilas Desai had filed a complaint on June 3 against Association president Chetan Dessai, its secretary Vinod Phadke and treasurer Akbar Mulla, accusing them of siphoning off Rs 3.13 crore by forging signatures. The trio were arrested on June 15, after the EOW filed a case in this regard. The accused officials filed the bail plea before the judicial magistrate in Panaji, who heard the arguments on Friday. “The court has reserved its decision on the bail petition till tomorrow,” a senior police official said. Desai, and two other life members of GCA, Hemant Angle and Prasad Fatarpekar, have filed an intervention petition before the JMFC, seeking they be heard before order is delivered on the bail. A magistrate’s court here today remanded in Goa Cricket Association (GCA) president Chetan Dessai, secretary Vinod Phadke and treasurer Akbar Mulla in one day police custody after they were arrested for an alleged fraud. Their bail applications would be heard tomorrow. While Dessai and Phadke were admitted in Goa Medical College and Hospital after complaining of high blood pressure after their arrest last evening, Mulla spent the night in the police custody.
