TEAM India’s marquee pacer Virat Kohli smashed his 29th Test century to end his five-year drought for a hundred in an overseas red-ball match, in his 500th international match on Day 2 of the second Test against West Indies at the Queen’s Park Oval.
Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt was highly impressed with Kohli’s knock and praised the marquee face of world cricket and called him an inspiration for every youngster.
“Looking at Virat Kohli’s fitness, he can continue playing. He has been scoring runs, and he is not just fit but one of the fittest players in the world. He could very well be the fittest cricketer. He is someone who is an institution in himself. His career is a roadmap for youngsters. Be it his nutrition, commitment, dedication, and ability to thrive under pressure, he is a brilliant example,” Butt said while talking on his YouTube channel.
Butt also talked about the performance from Windies and said “It has just been one-sided dominance so far. It seems as if India are playing against a minnow team. If West Indies somehow manage to get to 350 or 375, only then could we get to see some sort of contest. However, India are a superior bowling side. West Indies have the talent, but the batters tend to play extravagant shots once in a while, causing their downfall.”
Virat Kohli’s Ton Help India Post 438 Runs
Virat Kohli’s 121 along with fifties from Rohit Sharma (80), Ravindra Jadeja (61) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (57) and Ravichandran Ashwin’s (56) helped India post 438 runs in their first innings on the Day 2.
