In the most recent ICC T20 rankings, Australia’s opener Travis Head surpassed Suryakumar Yadav of India as the top batsman on Wednesday.
Suryakumar had been ranked first since December 2023, but Head shot to prominence at the T20 World Cup despite his team’s elimination.
Head scored 255 runs with two half centuries, including a 76 against India in a Super Eight contest.
The Australian has two more points than Suryakumar (842 points), who fell to second place. He does, however, still have an opportunity to take the top spot since India’s T20 World Cup campaign is still in the running.
England’s Phil Salt and the Pakistan duo of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan round up the top 5 batters.
Johnson Charles of the West Indies is the sole newcomer to the top 10, moving up four ranks, while Rahmanullah Gurbaz of Afghanistan moved up five spots but down a spot.
Spinner Kuldeep Yadav has moved 20 places to be just outside the top-10 at 11th place, while Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has jumped an incredible 44 places to shoot to 24th spot.
Axar Patel, an all-round spin specialist who currently ranks eighth, is still the top Indian bowler.
Adil Rashid of England continues to lead the bowling rankings, while Rashid Khan has risen to second position following his heroics in the T20 World Cup. Josh Hazlewood has moved up three spots to fourth place, trailing Hasaranga.
Following a brief tenure at the top, Marcus Stoinis has lost his position as the all-arounders’ number one. With Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi in second place, India’s Hardik Pandya in third, and Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga returning to the top, he has dropped to fourth place behind Stoinis.
