Nepali cricketers, who have been under the central contract of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), had not received their salaries for the last 16 months. The players had not got paid after CAN was suspended by International Cricket Council (ICC) in April last year citing a disputed election and government interference.

ICC had earlier decided that it will pay the salaries of the contracted players and had issued a statement regarding the same. “The ICC Board also agreed to a recommendation from the Development Committee to pay the outstanding salaries to national contracted players whilst the Cricket Association of Nepal is suspended and undergoing constitutional reform and reinstatement process,” ICC had said in a media release.

Now it is learnt that the ICC has paid salary for last one year to 23 members of Nepal national cricket team. CAN was paying the players categorising them into three grades: NPR 35,000 a month for Grade A players, NPR 25,000 a month for Grade B and NPR 10,000 a month for Grade C. ICC has also adopted the same model and made the payment accordingly.
