Bengaluru: England Captain Charlotte Edwards today said England would certainly start favorites, but she wouldn’t underestimate Bangladesh in their ICC Women’s World T20 match here tomorrow. “We are the favorites favorites as our ranking suggests. We have played Bangladesh only once. They are a good side – they field and bowl well, but batting is their concern, which was reflected in yesterday’s match against India. Nevertheless, we cannot underestimate any side in this group,” she told reporters on the eve of England-Bangladesh WT20 match here today.” Full Cricket Scorecard: Bangladesh Women vs England Women, 4th T20 Match, Group B, ICC Womens T20 World Cup 2016
Edwards said Bangladesh certainly has advantage for having acclimatised the condition here by playing warm-up and a match against India, but some of her players also have played cricket on this ground some years back. “Certainly, Bangladesh has an advantage for having played warm-up and a match here, but many of our players also have played on this ground a few years back,” she said. The competition, however, is all about how quickly the teams adapt to the different playing conditions in India, Edwards said. Replying to a query, Edwards said, “we will see the pitch today and pick the team accordingly. We have great depth in both spin and seam departments”. On not getting big totals in warm-up matches, Edwards said the team is not concerned about it, but happy over winning all three warm-up matches, and moreover Chennai pitch had turn in it and it is difficult to score boundaries in a big ground. “We think we have done really well playing on a big ground like Chennai which is also a spinning track. We are also very happy the way we bowled and batted. We are not really concerned with posting big totals, but what is important is winning, and we won three out of three warm-up matches,” she said. On 19-year-old Tash Farrant, Edwards said she has a great future in store and she has been fortunate to have seniors like Katherine Brunt and others to shape her bowling skills.
