About ten days after England spinner Shoaib Bashir became embroiled in a visa dispute, compatriot Rehan Ahmed is facing a similar situation. The spinner was barred from entering India after he and the rest of the England squad traveled to Abu Dhabi during the 10-day break between the second and third Test matches. Rehan was reportedly detained at Rajkot’s Hirasar airport because he did not have the necessary documentation to enter the country.
According to Sportstar, Rehan was stopped at the airport because he only had a single entry visa. Given the task at hand and the gravity of the issue, the local authorities attempted to find a short-term solution and were able to grant him a 2-day visa.
To put things in context, a person with a single-entry visa is not permitted to leave and return to the nation.

However, the England team is confident that the problem will be resolved completely over the next 24 hours. Except for Rehan, the rest of the England team’s travelling squad and support personnel arrived at their hotel in Rajkot by Monday evening without any issue.
“The England team has been advised to process the visa again which will be happening in the next two days. The player was allowed to enter the country with the rest of the team and he will be appearing in practice on Tuesday,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
This is the first time an international flight has landed straight in Rajkot. As a result, a temporary immigration counter was established, overseen by Jamnagar authorities. There were 31 members of the travelling England contingent who were to enter India, and only Rehan had a visa difficulty.
Unlike Bashir, Rehan had no problem entering India for the first time with the rest of the England squad.
England would like to get the visa problem with Rehan resolved completely, given there are three more Tests left in the series, the next of which begins on February 15.
