BRANDON King and Nicholas Pooran starred with the bat to seal the five-match T20 series after beating India by 8 wickets in the fifth and final match at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, here on Sunday. West Indies won the five-match series 3-2, their first T20I series win over India since 2017.

Pooran received the Player of the Series for his scintillating performance in the T20I series. He smashed 184 runs across five matches which included one half-century and two crucial forty-plus scores. Even after the match, Pooran came up with a stunning reply to Indian captain Hardik Pandya.

After victory in the third T20I, Pandya made a cheeky comment on taking on Pooran. He said “Nicky (Pooran) didn’t come out to bat and that allowed us to keep our pacers back, also allowed Axar to bowl his four overs. If Nicky wants to hit, let him hit me and that was the plan, I enjoy such competition. I know he is going to hear this and will come hard at me in the fourth T20I.”

However, Pooran didn’t get the opportunity in the fourth match but made the most out of the one he got in the final T20I. In the third over of the Windies innings, Pooran smashed back-to-back sixes to Hardik Pandya.

Pooran’s reply didn’t end here, he later posted about the same on his Instagram story which is now going viral at a rapid pace.

Hardik Pandya Accepts Blame For Series Loss

Skipper Hardik Pandya has accepted blame for going off-script as India lost the T20I series decider against West Indies, and said he wasn’t able to seize the opportunity when he came in to bat and didn’t execute the game plan precisely as intended.

“If you see, we lost that period post ten overs since I came in to bat. I think I was not able to capitalise [on] the situation and took my time and was not able to finish. I think the boys really played well. I think, at that period when I went in, I kind of did not play exactly how it was supposed to be,” Hardik said in the post-match presentation

As captain too, Hardik made some calls that raised debate. He tried to bowl out his pacers early in the game, a move that did not pay off at all.

When asked about his thought process while deciding on bowling changes in Lauderhill, Hardik said, “It is what I feel at that moment. I don’t plan much about it. If I see the situation and if I believe which is a better option, I generally prefer that. It’s not rocket science, it’s just whatever my gut says at that time.”
