After putting the visitors to bat on Day One, skipper Hardik Pandya and co. seemed toothless with the red cherry to take wickets against Steven Smith‘s side. Smith’s camp posted 467 for 7 decl. to put India A to bat in the three-day contest. India A lost early wickets as Akhil Herwadkar, Priyank Panchal, Ankit Bawne and Pandya departed after playing cameos. Nonetheless, no further damage was ensued as Shreyas Iyer led India A's fightback with an attacking fifty and remained unbeaten.
