India have been victorious in the last three Test series played in West Indies (2006, 2011 and 2016), while the maiden win came way back in 1971.

‘The Wall’ Rahul Dravid leads the tally for most runs in the West Indies in a Test series for India with 1511 runs in 17 matches at an average of 65.69, including three hundreds and 11 fifties, followed by Sunil Gavaskar with 1404 runs in 13 matches at an average of 70.20, with seven centuries and four fifties to his name. However, overall, West Indies Shivnarine Chanderpaul leads the tally between the teams with 1547 runs at an average of 70.31 in 17 matches including five centuries and nine fifties. sir Gary Sobers is the only other West Indies to score over 1000 runs in India vs West Indies Tests in the West Indies, with 1021 runs in just 10 matches at an average of 72.92. While for India apart from Dravid and Gavaskar, VVS Laxman and Polly Umrigar also have over 1000 runs in India vs West Indies Tests in West Indies. Anil Kumble leads the wicket-taking tally against West Indies in Tests in West Indies with 45 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 31/28 and a best of 6/78 in an innings followed by S Venkataraghavan, who scalped 39 wickets at 43.58 and Harbhajan Singh with 36 wicket at an average of 25.86. The Best bowling figures for India in Tests in the West Indies belongs to Subhash Gupte, who picked up 7/162 way back in the 1953 tour. Interestingly, Ishant Sharma is the only Indian bowler to have claimed a 10-wicket haul in a match. He returned 10/108 at Bridgetown in the second Test in 2011.

For West Indies Malcolm Marshall leads the tally with 40 wickets in just eight matches at an average of 10.62 followed by Sobers with 35 wickets in ten matches at an average of 24.97 and then Michael Holding with 31 wickets in nine matches at 28.38.
