A six-year-old boy, sitting in the stands of M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during the third and final T20I between India and England, was injured when a six off Suresh Raina‘s willow hit him. He, however, returned soon to watch the remaining match after getting medical attention at the venue. Dr Mathew Chandy, who treated the boy, told that it could have been fatal had the ball hit him on the head or neck, “because a six-year-old is not that strong to sustain such an injury”. To everyone’s delight, he escaped a major injury to witness India’s thumping win over England. Hosts posted a stiff target of 203 in front of the visitors and bundled them for 127.
The doctor told DNA, “Satish was injured after one of Raina’s sixes landed on his left thigh. He was rushed to the Karnataka State Cricket Association’s (KSCA) medical centre at the stadium for treatment. He complained of minor pain. We gave him the first aid and after 10 minutes, he requested to be relieved to watch the rest of the match. We had to give in his demand.”

Raina was India’s highest run-scorer, amassing 63 off 45 balls and blasted 5 maximums in his innings. On April 2012, a similar incident occurred when a 10-year-old girl was hit in the face during an Indian Premier League match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Pune Warriors.
