A five-wicket haul from the experienced seam bowler Katherine Brunt has helped England Women keep India Women to 205/8 in the final ODI in Mumbai.

Brunt struck with the second ball of the game to bowl Jemimah Rodrigues for 0, but it was her removal of Smriti Mandhana for 66 and Poonam Raut for 56 in the 29th over that really dented India. (READ: Women cricketers to feature on Lord’s Honour Board)

Mandhana and Raut had put on 129 after Rodrigues’ dismissal, and once they were dismissed the innings lost steam. Brunt, in a potentially match-winning second spell, also had Mithali Raj caught behind for 7 and trapped Mona Meshram lbw for 0, which left India at 150/4.

That soon became 150/7 as Anya Shrubsole bowled Taniya Bhatia for 0 and Natalie Sciver found the edge off Jhulan Goswami’s bat on 1.

Deepti Sharma (27*) and Shikha Pandey (26) added 47 to get India past 200.

Brunt, 33, ended with 5/28 from her ten overs. Mandhana’s 66 came off 74 balls and featured a six and eight fours; Raut made 56 from 97 balls with seven fours.
