KXIP 100/2 | Overs 12.2 |   Vohra 43*, Hussey 8*

For the first time in IPL, Punjab make a winning start. Hussey was dismissed but the umpires checked for a no-ball. It was a no-ball. Nothing went right for Pune. Game, set and match. Punjab have annihilated Pune with 46 balls to spare.

KXIP 99/2 | Overs 12 |   Vohra 43*, Hussey 8*

David Hussey thumped Sharma straight down the ground. So all the Punjab batsman have scored boundaries.

KXIP 92/2 | Overs 11 |   Vohra 41*, Hussey 3*

Ross Taylor has dropped a sitter in the first slip. Vohra got a repreive. Nothing is going Pune’s way. Marsh has a grimmace on his face. Vohra finished the over with a hit over Marsh’s head for a boundary. What a knock from Vohra.

KXIP 84/2 | Overs 10 |   Vohra 36*, Hussey 1*

Sharma has Mandeep’s wicket. Mandeep tried to dab the ball but inside-edged it on his stumps. Despite that nine runs were scored in the 10th over. Punjab inch closer.

KXIP 75/1 | Overs 9 |  Mandeep 27*, Vohra 32*

Pune floor an easy chance. Mandeep was dropped by Dinda at mid-on. That should have been taken. The next ball was hammered for a boundary. Not a good day for Dinda and his team Pune.

KXIP 67/1 | Overs 8 |  Mandeep 22*, Vohra 29*

Spin being introduced. Rahul Sharma is unable to cause any trouble to the duo. Only four runs conceeded but the required run-rate is less than three runs per over.

KXIP 63/1 | Overs 7 |  Mandeep 20*, Vohra 27*

Punjab are doing it in ones and twos. Vohra attempts a hoick over mid-wicket that eluded Manish Pandey. Mitchell Marsh starts his spell conceeding seven runs.

KXIP 56/1 | Overs 6 |  Mandeep 16*, Vohra 24*

Pune have to pick up wickets if they have to make a comeback. Kumar conceded two runs off this over. But in the scheme of things that is not really important. Punjab are coasting.

KXIP 54/1 | Overs 5 |  Mandeep 15*, Vohra 23*

Vohra started the over with yet another boundary. The duo also ran well betweeen the wickets.Pune are wondering if they batted on the same surface. The Pune outfit is looking deflated.

KXIP 44/1 | Overs 4 |  Mandeep 11*, Vohra 17*

Vohra is on fire. He hit four boundaries off Dinda and Mandeep hit another boundary. So five boundaries off the fourth over. Twenty-one runs off the over. Punjab are running away with the game.

KXIP 23/1 | Overs 3 |  Mandeep 6*, Vohra 1*

Pune have got Gilchrist. He was caught at deep square leg. Captain Angelo Mathews gets his opposite number. A sense of normalcy has returned after Gilchrist’s cameo.

KXIP 21/0 | Overs 2 | Gilchrist 15*, Mandeep 5*

Gilchrist’s aggression rubs onto Mandeep. He hits one straight off Ashok Dinda. Punjab are racing away. Pune have conceded 21 off two overs.

KXIP 14/0 | Overs 1 | Gilchrist 14*, Mandeep 0*

Adam Gilchrist got underway with a straight dive off Bhuvaneshwar Kumar. The fourth ball was blasted down the ground. The fifth ball was deposited over square-leg for a six. And Punjab get 14 off their first over.

PWI 99/9 | Overs 20 | Nayar 25*

The over started well for Pune. Bhuvaneshwar hit Mahmood for a boundary off the first ball. Mahmood then beat Bhuvanesh with a slower ball than cannoned onto stumps. Nayar employed a sweep which went over square leg for a boundary. The last ball resulted in a run-out. Punjab need 100 to win.

PWI 89/7 | Overs 19 | Nayar 20*, B Kumar 4*

Nayar picked up Harris’ length ball and deposited it over mid-wicket which went for a boundary. That was Pune’s eighth boundary off the innings. Only five runs came off the 19th over.

PWI 84/7 | Overs 18 | Nayar 16*, B Kumar 3*

Mahmood conceded only four. Mahmood unleashed his repertoire of variations which Pune batsmen failed to pick up.

PWI 80/7 | Overs 17 | Nayar 15*, B Kumar 1*

Harris gets dangerous Marsh. Harris has bowled 14-dot balls in his three overs. A two-run over is a commendeble task from Harris. Pune pegged back yet again.

PWI 78/6 | Overs 16 | Nayar 14*Marsh 15*

The decibel level of the crowd has soared. Marsh hits a six and a boundary. Praveen Kumar has bowled the most expensive over of the innings so far. Pune gets a move on.

PWI 64/6 | Overs 15 | Nayar 13*Marsh 2*

Nayar swept Chawla hard for a boundary. Pune on a roll. Eight runs off the over. The last recognised pair of Nayar-Marsh out there. The surface is slow.

PWI 56/6 | Overs 14 | Nayar 4*Marsh 2*

Gurkeerat has caught Taylor. What a catch! It was a blinder. Gurkeerat dived full-length and caught the plucked the ball out of thin air. Taylor was stunned.Praveen Kumar gets a wicket in his comeback over. Will Punjab commit the cardinal sin of not batting the 20 overs?

PWI 51/5 | Overs 13 | Taylor 14*, Nayar 4*

Runs are coming at a trickle. Pune scored six off the over. No big hits yet. Chawla has now conceded 11 runs off his three over.

PWI 45/5 | Overs 12 | Taylor 10*, Nayar 2*

Pune scored a much-needed boundary in this over. Taylor employed a vintage cut shot. But there were four dot-balls in the over.

PWI 40/5 | Overs 11 | Taylor 6*, Nayar 1*

Punjab has put a lid on the scoring rate. Chawla conceded just a two runs in his second over. Pune need to get a move on. This has been a one-way traffic so far.

PWI 38/5 | Overs 10 | Taylor 5*

Captain Mathews hit Awana for a boundary. Awana’s response was a ‘jaffa’ and the skipper is back in the dug-out. Will Pune reach a three-figure score?

PWI 33/4 | Overs 9 | Taylor 4*

Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla bowled a tidy over and snaps up Uthappa. Pune are looking for consolidation. Chawla sneaked past Uthappa and was bamboozled by the trajectory. Punjab are on top.

PWI 30/3 | Overs 8 | Uthappa 19*, Taylor 1*

Punjab are right on top. Samuels misjudged a second run and took on Piyush Chawla’s arm, which has proved fatal. Enter Ross Taylor. The run-rate is below four-runs per over.

PWI 27/2 | Overs 7 | Uthappa 18*, Samuels 2*

Mahmood bowled a good line in this over. Pune is struggling to force the issue. A slow pitch. Will this be a low-scoring affair?

PWI 24/2 | Overs 6 | Uthappa 16*, Samuels 1*

Awana conceded just three in his opening over. Punjab have not given Pune too many freebies in the powerplay overs. Only 24 runs have been scored off the first six overs.

PWI 21/2 | Overs 5 | Uthappa 14*

A streak of dot balls brought about an impetuous shot from Suman. Pune lose two within first five overs. Azhar Mahmood gets a wicket in his first over. Pune in some strife at 21 for two.

PWI 18/1 | Overs 4 | Uthappa 13*,Suman 5*

Uthappa got a streaky boundary off the first delivery. The ball eluded Azhar Mahmood, the lone slip. Harris bowled four dot balls to Suman. Pressure is building on Suman.

PWI 13/1 | Overs 3 | Uthappa 8*,Suman 5*

Pune got their first boundary on the 15th ball of the innings. Uthappa flicked it past mid-wicket. A missed run-out opportunity off the fifth ball, Chawla failed to hit the stumps directly. Uthappa got a life. To add salt on the wounds, Suman flicked the next ball for a boundary. So 11 off that over.

PWI 2/1 | Overs 2 | Uthappa 2*,Suman 0*

Ryan Harris gave away only one run. Punjab bowlers have started well. Harris got his away swingers going. A probing first over. Almost had Suman but he got some bat.

PWI 1/1 | Overs 1 | Uthappa 1*

What a first over from Praveen Kumar. Only one run conceded and Kumar has snapped up Manish Pandey for a duck. India’s first IPL centurion is having a torrid time in two innings he has played so far.
