Looks like the table toppers of IPL 2016, Gujarat Lions (GL) are enjoying this edition of IPL particularly their all-rounder James Faulkner. In a recent Instagram post by Faulkner, he was seen shooting for Gujarat Tourism donning the typical avatar of Gujarat’s traditional attire that he posted on Monday. By the looks of it, Faulkner was absolutely enjoying the shoot. In the recently concluded match of GL against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on Sunday at Rajkot, a lot was dependent on this all-rounder and he did provide an impetus to his side staying on the crease until the end of the innings with his knock of 32 off 27 including 3-fours. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: Gujarat Lions vs Kings XI Punjab, IPL 2016, Match 28 at Rajkot

GL who have always have been the front runners in every game were found to be finicky in the previous match with a lot depending on the middle-order batsmen. GL’s assistant coach Sitanshu Kotak felt the target of 155 set by KXIP was easily achievable. Kotak further mentioned, “Our openers batted brilliantly so far in most of the matches. They didn’t click this time but the target could have been chased down by the middle-order.” GL were defeated by 23-runs by KXIP in Match 28.

Supporting Faulkner at the non-strikers end was India Under-19 skipper Ishan Kishan with his contribution of 27 off 24 including 3-fours. Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum who get off toa flying start were unable to get their better side in this match. Though, the stand out was Akshar Patel for his hat-trick and the first one for IPL 9. GL would need two more wins to excel to the play-offs. They will be yet another home ground match against Delhi Daredevils (DD) on Tuesday.
