One of India’s core team members, Cheteshwar Pujara went unsold during Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 on Monday. Pujara, who was up for grab for a base price of INR 50 lakhs, could not garner interest among any of the IPL franchises for the 2017 edition. On the other hand, Bengal captain Manoj Tiwary, who also had a base price of INR 50 lakhs, went unsold as well. In his T20 career, Pujara has represented IPL teams like Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), while Tiwary has played for KKR and Delhi Daredevils (DD) in the past. What comes as a surprise is the fact that Tiwary has had good run in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Inter Zonal T20 tournament. He scored an unbeaten 75 off 43 for East Zone to take them to victory against North Zone. In another match, his 3-for rattled South Zone, which means he could have been an effective all-rounder in the T20 League. Pujara, who is one of the strongest batsmen in the longest format of the sport, is in tremendous form in Test cricket this season, and has even played a couple of impressive knocks for losing causes. He scored 44 off 45 and a 47 off 42 for Saurashtra in the Inter State T20 Tournament.
