Tahir, the top-ranked limited-overs spinner from South Africa, was expected to be among the most demanded players for the Indian T20 league, looking at the fact that there will be a lot on offer for spinners on Indian tracks. Tahir’s base price was an alluring INR 50 lakh, but it could not attract the franchises. Tahir was unsold in the first round of the auction, but his name was put in the list to be re-auctioned. Guptill, who had a base price of INR 50 lakh, was picked by Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). Another big name Roy went for INR 1 crore, to Gujarat Lions (GL). Navdeep Saini, the pacer who impressed one and all in domestic cricket, was also sold in the second round for the base price of INR 10 lakh to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). A surprising bid went for Nathan Coulter-Nile, who was brought in for the second time. His base price was INR 1 crore but was sold for INR 3.5 crore finally to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
