IPL 2017: Pawan Negi blames batting collapse as reason for defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

IPL 2017: Pawan Negi added that the fair amount of seam movement on the Eden track did allow Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bowlers the advantage.

Following an embarrassing 82-run defeat for Virat Kohli‘s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against former 2-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the historic Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata on Sunday, Bangalore’s Pawan Negi blamed the team’s horrific batting collapse for the defeat. He added that it was a part and parcel of the game, while also adding that the fair amount of seam movement on the Eden track did allow Kolkata bowlers the advantage, as they managed to restrict Bangalore at the lowest IPL score till date. Negi also did not blame the pre-match shower, which could have helped the Kolkata pacers. “There’s nothing to do with the pitch but both the teams bowled well. We did well in both spin and pace departments. But then it’s part of the game. One day you do well and on another day, nothing goes your way. Unfortunately our batting collapsed. There was nothing to do with the wicket. I don’t think rain made any difference either,” he said, as reported by PTI. Speaking on Kohli’s comment on the sight screen being short at Eden, he said, “It’s nothing to do with the sightscreen. But people behind the sightscreen were moving a lot, causing problems for the batsmen.”

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Sunday registered the lowest-ever total in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017. RCB were bowled out for a mere 49 in 9.4 overs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Match No. 27 of the ongoing IPL 2017, which is also the 10th lowest total overall in all T20 cricket.
