Kandurata Maroons vs Otago Volts Live Cricket Score, CLT20 Qualifiers match: Otago Volts win by 6 wickets; qualify for main draw
Otago Volts' skipper Brendon McCullum won the toss and elected to field in the third qualifier match against Kandurata Maroons in the Champions League T20 2013.

Otago Volts: 157/4 | Overs 18 | James Nisham 28*, Nathan McCullum 1* (OTAGO VOLTS win by six wickets)
Ten Doeschate brought up his half-century and continued his onslaught to take his side toa comfortable position. He hit the fifth six of his innings in the last ball of the 17th over to take his team to 146 and just nine runs away from a win. In a bid to finish off quickly, ten Doeschate perished in the first ball off the next over when Kulasekara held on to a splendid diving catch at deep square leg. But it was too little too late for the Maroons. Nathan McCullum was the new man in. With just two runs needed, James Nisham finished it off with a boundary with two overs to spare.

Ryan ten Doeschate is turning it on here. He starts the second-half of the Volts’ innings with three consecutive sixes. The over fetched 20 runs for the Volts.
Mendis pulled things back with a tight over where Volts could score only five runs. The Maroons then picked up a wicket off the next over to get rid of Broom.
Suraj Randiv bowled the 14th over. The boundaries were starting to dry up again but the new man J Neesaham and ten Doeschate were rotating the strike. The two batsmen had a bit of a mix up but they managed to stay alive. Neesham went on to slam Randiv for a six over deep midwicket.
Ten Doeschate picked up Mendis and hit him for a six to keep Otago in the chase. The New Zealand side reached 118 for three in 15 overs.

Mendis continued to trouble Brendon McCullum. The Volts’ skipper was finding it tough to read the Sri Lankan spinner and was often in two minds while playing his bowling. McCullum eventually scored a boundary to put the pressure back on Mendis but the duel was getting interesting. McCullum looked rusty from the start of the innings.
McCullum was soon dismissed when he was foxed by Dilhara Lokuhettige. The ball beat his bat and Sangakkara was sharp behind the stumps to dislodge the bails. Replays suggested that Brendon’s foot was on the crease and the third umpire took the call and ruled in favour of the bowling side. The Volts reached 46 for two in eight overs, the same total as Maroons in their share of eight overs.
The match was evenly poised with Broom and Ryan ten Doeschate in the middle. Thirimanne introduced another spinner in Kaushal Lokuarachchi to keep a check on the run flow.
Randiv was brouyght back to the attack and was hit for a six by Ten Doeschate. What a game the Dutchman is having. He arrived in India this morning and straightaway made an impact with the ball. Here he is again, when the team needs him to perform with the bat and take his side through.
Volts reach 62 for two from 10 overs.

Nuwan Kulasekara got the ball to move away from the left-hander Hamish Rutherford but the Southpaw managed to get a boundary through covers. The first over fetched 10 runs.
Skipper Thirimanne introduces spin right away in the second over as he brings Suraj Randiv into the attack. The Volts get a boundary off his over but only six runs come off it.
Neil Broom scored the first six of the innings when he slammed a delivery straight back over Kulasekara’s head.
The first chance of the game came in the fourth over when Rutherford mistimed a shot but the ball landed between two fielders. However, Rutherford couldn’t make the most of this opportunity as he perished off the final ball of that over when he was caught in the deep.
Man-of-the-match from Volts’ victory on Sunday, Brendon McCullum walked out and faced Ajantha Mendis. Mendis bowled his trademark carrom ball and foxed McCullum but couldn’t get rid of him. McCullum was living dangerously when he tried to play a reverse sweep and failed to connect. The pver fomosjed with a huge appeal.

The Maroons lost a vital wicket in the 18th over. Volts skipper Brendon took a sharp catch at the edge of the inner circle to bring an end to Tharanga;s innings. The Sri Lankan southpaw finished on 76 from just 56 deliveries. Butler then followed it up with the wicket of Kaushal Loukarachichi off the next delivery when he uprooted his leg stump. Nuwan Kulasekara then walked out and ensured that Butler is denied his hattrick. However, Butler was not done with taking wickets in the over. He trapped Chamara Silva off the last ball of the over to reduce Maroons to 135 for seven. Butler finished with figures of three for 21.
Thilan Kandamby walked in at number nine and hit Neesham for a boundary. Kulasekara also swung his arms as the Maroons picked up 11 runs off the penultimate over.
The final over started with the wicket of Kandamby who was far outside the crease when the straight drive from Kulasekara hit the stumps after a faint contact with the bowlers hand.
Kulasekara made up for it by hitting a six off the next ball to take the team total past 150. However, a bizarre attempt in the next ball saw his stumps on the ground. The Maroons finished with 154 for nine on the board.

Neesham continued and conceded 10 runs in the 11th over. Tharanga brought up his half-century with a boundary off the final ball of that over. It took him 35 deliveries to get to the 50. Lokuhettige, who had been silent for a long time played a glorious straight drive off Butler. He then came down the track and hit a six over deep midwicket. The Maroons picked up 13 runs in the 12th over.
Ryan ten Doeschate came into the attack and had an eventful start to his over with a slower one with LOkuhettige failing to connect his sweep shot. THe batsmen picked up a single anyway. However, ten Doeschate’s medium pace was not read well by LOkuhettige who mistimed a big heave and was caught by Hamish Rutherford. It was an important wicket for the Volts as the match was starting to slip away from their grip. Skipper Lahiru Thirimanne walked in at number five. Doeschate seems to be fresh from a course from Rajat Bhatia school of medium pace. The Maroons reached 100 for three in 13 overs. After a fairly sedate start, scoring their first fifty in 49 deliveries, they have accelerated well and scored their second fifty off just 29 balls.
Brendon brought on left-arm spinner Nick Beard who started off with a short delivery. Bowling to two left-handed batsmen, Beard bowled from around the wicket and there was hardly any flight on offer. It was clear that Brendon was looking to get a couple of overs from Beard and ten Doeschate before bringing his pacers back into the attack. Beard bowled a couple of full tosses and short-pitched deliveries but got away with the Maroons picking up just seven runs from his overs.
Ten Doeschate’s dibly dobly bowling continued and he got rid of skipper Thirimanne off the last ball of the 15th over.

McMillan’s tight line and length finally paid rich dividends as he dismissed Jayasuriya in the last ball of the sixth over. Jayasuriya had his feet planted at the crease and went for a wild swing. But he was no where close to the delivery as it went through his defense and hit the top of the off-stump.
Kumar Sangakkara, the new man, charged down the track in the first ball he faced and was faced with a short-delivery. He was lucky that the top edge carried over the keeper and the slip cordon and went to the thirdman boundary.
Brendon McCullum then introduced spin by bringing on his brother Nathan McCullum into the attack. Tharanga hit Nathan straight back for a six and a couple of balls later, came down the track and slammed one over covers. The Maroons got a much-needed move on through this over that fetched them 15 runs.
Brendon then brought medium-pacer James Neesham on. Sangakkara welcomed him with a six over long on. This shot also brought up the fifty for the Maroons. Neesham persisted with full length deliveries and varied his pace well to force Sangakkara to go after him. The Sri Lankan southpaw obliged but failed to clear the field this time and was caught at long on by Ryan ten Doeschate at long on. Dilhara Lokuhettige came in next. Nathan continued despite being plastered for 15 runs in the first over. Tharanga continued to go after the spinner and picked up another six. The Sri Lankan side reached 72 for two at the half-way stage.

The second day of the qualifiers has started off well for the bowlers. The first one belonged largely to the batsmen but Ian Butler and James McMillan have started well for the Otago Volts. They offer very little width to the Kandurata openers — Upul Tharanga and Shehan Jayasuriya. The Sri Lankan duo are not given enough room to free their arms and play their shots. They only manage five runs from the first two overs.
Butler squared up Tharanga in the first ball of the third over and had reasons to believe that the ball went to the keeper off his an outside edge. But, umpire Vineet Kulkarni felt otherwise and ruled in favour of the batting side. The decision proved to be the right one.
McMillan complemented Butler from the other end with good sharp quick bowling. He even clocked 140 kmph, much to Tharanga’s despair. However, an over-pitched delivery outside the off-stump helped Tharanga play one shot through the covers for the first boundary of the innings.
McCullum brought in Neil Wagner in the fifth over. The Volts have been exceptional on the field, led by skipper McCullum who forced a direct hit in the fifth over and almost got rid of Tharaga. Maroons manage just 17 from the first five overs.
