Former England cricketer Jonathan Agnew deleted his Twitter account after the fallout in the Kevin Pietersen row and getting into a fight with Pietersen’s wife Jessica Taylor.
According to The Daily Mail, the 54-year old cricket broadcaster was abused extensively on the social networking site in the aftermath of his argument with Taylor, prompting him to post a final Tweet which had an aggressive tone to it.
“Almost did this last night. This is not what Twitter was when I joined. I will now leave it to the bullies and trolls. Shame,” was what the final tweet from the account @Aggerscricket read.
Agnew spoke out on the BBC Radio show ‘Test Match Special’ on Pietersen’s ongoing spat with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), in which he was quoted as saying that while Pietersen pretended to be a strong, confident individual, he was in fact ‘an anxious and nervous character’.
He also touched upon the topic of the Kevin Pietersen’s parody Twitter account, the ownership of the account allegedly linked to a few members of the England team. This sparked off a debate between Agnew and Taylor, mainly over the issue of ownership of the account.
I’m not fighting anyone’s battles. As a wife and mother I have every right to defend my family when I see fit. I make no apologies for that.
