India are hosting their first ever Women’s World Cup as they welcome 15 other nations to compete in the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup. However, Indian women team lost the opener against the United States of America at the Kalinga Stadium situated in Bhubaneswar by a historic margin of 8-0.
The girls from USA now hold the record for scoring most goals against India in an under 17 match. The record was previously held by the Republic of Korea for 7-0.
USA scored the first goal of the night and it came from ace striker Melina Rebimbas in the first nine minutes of the game itself. The second goal for the USA side came in the 15th minute by the hands of Charlotte Kohler.
At the end of first half and it was total dominance from the girls of USA. Onyeka Gamero’s third goal and Melina’s fourth gave United States of America a massive lead of 4 Goals. USA was in a strong position and India needed to do something special to recover from this. India was just dealing with this when Gisele Thompson’s scored the fifth one for USA.
The team of USA had been top notch right from the beginning as they were constantly putting the pressure on the hosts. India never got the chance to get out of the defensive side.
USA started the second half with the same aggressive intensity they ended the first half and scored the sixth goal in the 51st minute of the match and it came by Ella Emri. India are now in need of a miracle to pull off an upset from here. Things got tougher when Suarez scores the penalty and takes the lead to 7-0.

Mia Elizabeth’s goal in the 62nd minute advanced the lead to 8-0. There were no more goals in the rest off the match but USA took a huge blow as Rebimbas walked out by the nd of the match due to a possible injury during the match. USA would be hoping it is not something major cause losing one of their aces would at the opener would not be a good sign even for the World Cup favorites.
