Lou Vincent gets sympathy from ex-New Zealand Cricket chief Justin Vaughan

Justin Vaughan said he felt for Lou Vincent, who is going through a depressing situation.

Justin Vaughan, former boss of New Zealand Cricket (NZC), has said that he ‘felt for’ former batsman Lou Vincent, who, he added, is going through a very ‘depressing situation’ currently. Vincent is at the centre of one of cricket’s biggest scandals with reports his evidence has implicated up to 12 players in match-fixing.

According to Stuff.co.nz, former NZC boss Vaughan admitted that he found the situation with Vincent depressing as he believes New Zealand was always sheltered from such implications until now and never had any players in the spotlight to the extent that it does now.

Stating that he ‘felt’ for Vincent, Vaughan also said that he has known the player for many years, adding that Vincent has had a ‘well-documented rocky road in terms of mental state, mental illness that he has battled’.

Vaughan further said that it is depressing for him in terms of a human point of view as to what Vincent must be going through at the moment, adding that the former cricketer is ‘paying for sins of the past’.
